Unanswered: User Defined Functions and Import Data Wizard

    Hi

I have set up a User Defined Function (UDF) in MS Access Module that is called in a MS Access Query. I tested the query in MS Access and it works fine.

In MS Excel, I tried to import data from the query but the Import Data Wizard doesn’t locate the particular query. However it can see all other queries which do not contain UDFs. Why? Is there a fix that will allow me to import data from an MS Access query than contains a UDF?

In a nutshell, it's not an Access query, it's a JET query. When you're running Access, queries can call back into VBA. But when you're going through ODBC or ADO, the JET engine doesn't have the whole VBA model to draw on because it's simply not running.

Your best bet is to export from Access to Excel.

    Thanks for the tip.

I thought it might be something like that.

Rather than export the query. I might try and and rewrite the query. I just need to work out from an array of dates which ones are the end of month.
