    hotel booking system -db choice

    Hi,

I am intending to get somebody to develop an hotel booking system which can take online booking and bookings from a local computer. I would want to have admin pages as well.

I have to make a choice between either getting a Microsoft Access based solution or something built using mySQL + php.

I know somebody that believes he can do this using Microsoft Access (and has done something similar using access a few year ago). I have a choice to with go with him or get a freelance developer to do carry out the mySQL/php solution.

I know the admin front end would be easier to create using access but mySQL would be quicker and more powerful.

Can anybody tell me what the pros and cons of the two dbs would be or what would be the better choice?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks.

Access is not appropriate for this. Consider SQL Server, or SQL Server Express, or mySQL.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.
