    Unanswered: Crystal Reports Field Options

We are creating reports using a date field stored as a number in an SQL database. The date field is stored in this format: YYYYMMDD. So, today would be stored in the database as 20080703 If we simply drop the database field onto the report canvas, it displays properly. However, if we put the field into a formula field, and the field options are set at the defaults, it displays the field in this format: YY,YYM,MDD.00 Is there a way at the beginning of a formula field to override the report field formatting options? If I simply ran this report myself it wouldnt be a problem to change the report field options, but we have many clients who run these reports using Crystal Reports on their computers, who have not set the default options to be in the format we use.

Its not how the field is to be displayed, we are performing formulas on the date field, and for some reason, Crystal Reports decides to put the commas and periods in there when we try and perform the conversion or math on the field.
