    Unanswered: cannot increase 4k bufferpool after 524288

    hi,

    64bit db2 v8 is runing on aix (64bit). I am trying to increase the 4k bufferpool, but it is giving error cannot increase more than 524288 limit.

    is there any limit in increasing bufferpool in 64bit db2,. any idea,

    So you're trying to create bufferpools bigger than 2GB? Do you have enough physical memory to cover that, the OS, the DB and any other bufferpools?

    What's the actual error code you get?

    hi stolze,

    this is command i issued

    ALTER BUFFERPOOL databuff4k01
    IMMEDIATE
    SIZE 510000;

    it is giving the following error

    DBA02000E - valid range for number of pages is 2 - 524288

    hi meehange,

    I have 16gb ram in aix server and no other databases in the server, i have another 32k bufferpool configured (2.9gb).

    CREATE BUFFERPOOL "DAT_8K_BP00"
    IMMEDIATE
    ALL DBPARTITIONNUMS
    SIZE 510000
    NUMBLOCKPAGES 0
    PAGESIZE 8 K;

    even for 8k page its giving error
    DBA02000E - valid range for number of pages is 2 - 524288

    We cannot increase the bufferpool size more than this is there any limits
    kindly suggest

    db2licm -l (letter L lowercase)
    db2level
    M. A. Feldman
    IBM Certified DBA on DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows
    IBM Certified DBA on DB2 for z/OS and OS/390

    DBA02000E - interesting error. I can't seem to find any information about this error in the manuals. Are you executing create bufferpool from the command line or using some tool? Any errors in the db2diag.log?

    think your using Quest Central for db2,
    don,t use any tool directly fire the command alter bufferpool its working
