Unanswered: Scrolling Problem in Access (MouseHook.dll)

    Hello all!

Please share your experience regarding MouseHook.dll (http://www.lebans.com/mousewheelonoff.htm)

I have included MouseHook.dll as well as the appropriate module and code into my application. Everything works fine with .mdb, but when I create an .mde off that .mdb, the functionality embedded into that fix is lost. Any insight?

    Thank you.

The only times I have experienced lost functionality when making an MDE, it turned out to be the result of either:

The MDB file is modifying forms or references, which you can't do in an MDE.

    or

    A corrupted MDB file.

I don't have any experience with MouseHook.dll though.

You may want to also look at this: http://www.dbforums.com/showpost.php...8&postcount=52 (in the code bank.)

There is one mousehook routine floating around websites which doesn't work very well and another one which works very well. I believe the example I posted in the link above doesn't utilize a module which might help solve your issue. Just make sure the *.dll is in the same directory as the *.mde file.

The example I created uses the Mousehook.dll from lebans website but I removed the module which was not needed to make it work. Try making an mde from the mdb example posted and see if that works. It should not give you any problems. If it does, something else might be going on.

    Thanks for your input!

to StarTrekker: I don't think that anything you mentioned applies -- the application is functioning rather fine both as .mdb and .mde. Corrupted file would give me other problems as well... I think...

to Pkstormy: I'll try using your form example. Will keep you posted...

    Thanks again.

I used the mousehook in the last DB that I made. I found out, after splitting the DB into a front and back-end, I had to copy the mousehook.dll file into the C:\Windows and C:\Windows\System32 folders on EVERY machine that was going to run the DB. Otherwise you'll get errors and it won't work, meaning the people will be able to use the wheel and whatnot.

Thanks a lot everyone! I got the problem figured out--as in most cases it was a stupid one--I just had the wrong version of the modMuseHook that didn't take subform parameter. I replaced the module with the newer version and everything seems to work ok.

    Thanks again.

Wrong version of the modMuseHook (or modMouseHook)? Is this something which I should update in the Mousehook example in the code bank?

I haven't checked what you have in the code bank. I downloaded my first version long ago and that file didn't work for subforms. The most current version, that does take care of subforms, is available at http://www.lebans.com/mousewheelonoff.htm
