    Unanswered: sp_updatestats in compatibility mode 80 (0n 2005)

Is it true that if you run sp_updatestats on a 2005 DB in compatibility level 80, it will shut off Auto Update Statistics for that database ? The option is still set to true on the database in Options, but if this is true it explains the problems I have been experiencing over the last couple of day with statistics being out of date even though this option is set to true.

or is it I am just misreading the following BOL excerpt:

For databases with a compatibility level below 90, executing sp_updatestats resets the automatic UPDATE STATISTICS setting for all indexes and statistics on every table in the current database. For more information, see sp_autostats (Transact-SQL). For databases with a compatibility level of 90 or higher, sp_updatestats preserves the automatic UPDATE STATISTICS setting for any particular index or statistics.

    Thanks

I think I may have misread, I ran an sp_udpdatestats, and when I do an sp_autostats of various tables in the DB, they still show as having AUTOSTATS ON.
