Unanswered: How to change SYS password in ORACLE?

    Hi,

I have a newly installed database version 9.2.0.8
As per Security purposes I need to change the password for "SYS" under dual controlled.

I tried to use "ALTER USER SYS identified by <password> password expire;" but upon trying to login a new session, I was not ask to provide the new password for SYS id.

I cannot make use of passwd command, for reasons that we need to hide the dual controlled password to anybody.

    Thanks and regards,
    Mike

I don't think you can expire SYS (to avoid a worse case scenario).
Not to mention you don't need a password locally at all.
Since you can stop remote connectivity for the SYS user and only
have it login locally I don't see what the issue is ...

Either way, just change the password every X days.

you can lead someone to something but they will never learn anything ...
