Unanswered: Maintenance plan SQL Server 2005

I cannot get the maintenance plan to delete files older than 2 weeks for 2005.
    Is this a glitch.
Its based on the .bak extension etc...
Any suggestions to point me in the right direction.

    thanks,
    Jonathan

Make sure the login being used by SQL Server Agent has permission to delete files in the backup directory.
Also, make sure you have the box checked to delete files in subdirectories, if you are a backing up to different directories for different databases.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

The extension should match the extension used by your backup files.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

Make sure to specify BAK and not .BAK in the dialog box.
"The data in a record depends on the Key to the record, the Whole Key, and
nothing but the Key, so help me Codd."

Delete backup maintenance job not running

I have created maintenance cleanup task to delete backup files older than 3 days, but the task does not run. What could be the reason? This task is a follow up task after the backup job.

    Thanks.

did you check the error logs.... ?
my issue was that I had .bak instead of bak
I removed the period and all ran well
