Red face Unanswered: Error in assignment

    Hi,

I have two tables in my database that have large(ish) text fields in them. When I use Crystal Reports I can view them OK however when I use MS Query I get an "Error in Assignment" error message if I include any one or more of these large text fields. If they are not included all is OK. In the DDFs the fields are declared as Char.

    Hope someone can help

    A few questions:
    - What version of PSQL are you using?
    - What is the size of the CHAR fields causing the errors?
    - Does ODBC Test or Pervasive Control Center show the same error?

According to the PSQL v8 documentation (SQL Language Reference) the maximum size of a CHAR field is 255 bytes. PSQL v9 and later does support larger char fields though.
You'll either need to upgrade to at least v9.52 (latest of the v9.5 series) or split your Char fields to less than 255 bytes.
