m using db2 v8.1 ESE on windows.
I wanted to know what role 'territory and code set ' plays while creating database in db2.
m learning a rational tool named 'clearquest' which says u need to select a different code set and territory and not the default one which get selected when you create a database. where the difference actually occur while selecting this.
this is related to the charsets for character data saved in database, so if clients come in, they have to know how to translate data from one codepage to another. this is flaaged in sysibm.syscolums with ccsid
you can specify any code when creating a db and I believe current versions use utf, before it was the territory us..
see some admin guides for detail

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.
