Unanswered: SQL Server 2005 Cluster Configuration

    Hi All,

    This is my scenario:

    Server1 - Dev server
    Server2 - Prod 24 by 7
    Server3 - Prod 9 to 5

If one or both production servers fail, then I'll use dev server for failover.

What is a proper way of installing SQL Server? Also how these servers should be setup when I look at them in Cluster Administrator? I have read a lot of documentation but I am still not 100% sure.

    Thank you.

You should be less concerned with the hours of operation and more concerned with your physical hardware (if you are truly talking about SQL Clustering).

Are you asking about SQL Clustering (which requires very specific hardware and external storage)?

Or are you asking about SQL Database mirroring (which can be done on just about any hardware, but requires proper attention to configuration in order to achieve true "high availability")?

Have you hugged your backup today?
