    Unanswered: cataloging problems

    Hi Folks,

    DB2 client - DB2 v8.1 FP 14, OS: Windows 2003
    Db2 server - DB2 v8.1 FP 7, OS : AIX 5.2

I need to catalog our production and Test databases on the server where our monitoring tool is installed. Now the problem is even though the instance names are different in prod and test database servers, the database names are same. And I am unable to catalog the same database name under two different instances. For expamle:

    Test server hostname: TEST-SERVER
    Production server hostname: PROD-SERVER

db2 catalog tcpip node TCHS remote TEST-SERVER server 50000
DB20000I The CATALOG TCPIP NODE command completed successfully.

db2 catalog CHSDB at node TCHS
DB20000I The CATALOG DATABASE command completed successfully.

db2 catalog tcpip node PCHS remote PROD-SERVER server 60000
DB20000I The CATALOG TCPIP NODE command completed successfully.

db2 catalog CHSDB at node PCHS
SQL1005N The database alias "chsdb" already exists in either the local
database directory or system database directory.

Is there a way I can catalog the same database name under two different instances?

    Thanks

Use an alias for one of them.

    Instead of this:

db2 catalog CHSDB at node PCHS

    do this:

db2 catalog CHSDB as MyDB at node PCHS
