Red face Unanswered: Recovery of tablespace from datafile

    I have 2 questions

    1) Can deleting one tablespace corrupt the other one as well. In our case we deleted some tablespace and somehow tables from the other tablespace were deleted as well.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any solution?

    2) We don’t have backup schedule for oracle db system. But we do backup from Operating System point of view so we do have the data file. And we recently deleted some tablespace ;-(. I wanted to know if there is any way we could recover the lost tablespace by using the data file?

    Thank you so much!!!

as long as you were running in archive log mode and you had the database in backup mode or shutdown when you did the OS backup, you should be fine.
You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

First, many thanks for the reply on the forum.

I just talked with the person who does the backup he could not back up the data file because the tablespace were in use. We also did not have Archive Log Mode enabled.

So we don’t have datafile and have a corrupted one residing in the database.

Can we some how use re-do log to recover?

    Any insights would be helpful.
