Unanswered: String too loong
I'll make a long story short. We're running SQL statements to control the quality of the data in a warehouse during and after the ETL process (Informatica). These statements are in a table and are executed through Informatica.
Here is my problem.
The field for the SQL statements is a CLOB (500K). I figured I could put any SQL in there...
One of my statements is over 37K characters. Of course it is made of several queries, but it is part of one control. When inserting, DB2 returns an error saying that the string is too long.
If the field can hold 500K characters, why do I have this error?
I could brake the statement in parts, but if there is a way to insert it as it is, I'd rather leave it as only one record.

The question is how you try to do the insert. It can very well be that you provide a string, which is interpreted as VARCHAR by DB2. There, the limit is close to 32K.Knut Stolze
