Unanswered: SQL server reporting services 2005

    All,

Is it possible for a user to type up "raw sql" in reporting services 2005 and submit it to the DBMS? EG: Insert/Update/Delete etc?

    Thx

    Isaac

Only if the source of the report is a stored procedure that accepts a parameter that it then executes. But why do you want to do this? Haven't written the approriate functionality in your app yet? It may seem as a convenient way to avoid a couple of days of coding the feature in the app, but it may bite you later on, because your next step will be to create a trigger, which will lead to a chaos that you yourself would like to run away from.

Thanks for the reply. While I definitely do *not* want to do this, I'd still like to know if its possible or not.

What I'm hearing is "no" - unless you go far out of your way - which is what I'd hoped.

    Thx,

Yup, right on! At first I thought that it was your *desire* to be able to use SSRS as an ad hoc query tool. That's the reason I was a little sarcastic (many would say "a little" is an understatement )
