    Unanswered: Problem with Select query

I have a linked DB to a TriTec computer aided dispatch (CAD) database. I have a select query that I ran (4 linked tables) and then I manually deleted
records from this query then closed the query saving it. Now whenever I run
that same query with those time frames I only get the record set that I had
after deleting records. It doesn't refresh or restore the original data set.
Even if I write a new query with a different name, I still get only those records that I had left after the deletion...How do I get those records back.

    Question....

I'm not sure I'm understanding what you are asking? I think what you are saying is that you ran a select query and deleted the records that it returned? And now you are trying to get those records back after having deleted them? If that is the case then you are out of luck, those records have been deleted from your CAD database. When you delete a record from a linked table/tables, they are still gone.

Sorry, I hope you have a backup.

Yes, and THAT ladies and gentlemen is how new Access users USUALLY learn that queries don't have a scrap of data. A query is not a copy of data from tables, a query IS data from the tables.

I am not a NEW access user....this is a bit more complicated than I am able to explain...First I am connected via linked tables to the CAD database but only as a user....so the original data is not effected. Second, I realize that the data is gone from a select query once I delete it...however, when i create a another query (not a copy) exactly the same but name it something else and run it for the time frame I still get only the records that I did not delete.
Even though I can open up the master table in CAD and see that the records are in there... When I create a NEW database and link the tables and create a new query (exactly the same) as I need the data from that query I still get only the data from the original run where I deteleted records, I can run other quieries, not exactly the same and get ALL the data from that time period. It appears to be only this query that does not return all the data when it is re run. I am trying to figure out why it is doing that...

    Strange

I'm not familiar with linking to CAD but it sounds strange that the data is actually in the physical table and the query is disregarding it. The only thing I can suggest is to use the Linked Table Manager and refresh that link. Please let us know how this is finally resolved.
    Good luck, Stu
