Question Unanswered: Date format of server

    Hi to all.

Hope you understand what I want. I want to know is there any way to do query on sql server to get the date format for the sql server.

I have had plenty of times a problem where the client machines date format is not the same as the servers hence an exception is thrown. Now i want to know if there is any way to query the server to get the format like YYYY/MM/DD ?

    Kind Regards

Instead of that, you want to use a universal date format...

SQL server always stores dates like: yyyy/mm/dd, but it's your language options that define how it's displayed.

If you want to get the language of the server by code, then

    exec sp_configure

then look at the value against default language and look it up in syslanguages.

    select * from master..syslanguages
