    Unanswered: DB2 errors

    Hello Team,

    We support servers - DB2UDBv8.1FP16 and os level as 5.2.
    we are receiving the errors in the db2diag.log frequently especially during the offline backup.
    Errors such as
    2008-09-27-02.56.56.774196+060 I15159C385 LEVEL: Error
    PID : 757976 TID : 1255 PROC : db2hmon 0
    INSTANCE: dumap13 NODE : 000
    FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, Automatic Table Maintenance, atmCallHIPostProcess, probe:100
    MESSAGE : ZRC=0xFFFE7961=-99999
    DATA #1 : <preformatted>
    AutoStats: [IBM][CLI Driver] CLI0106E Connection is closed. SQLSTATE=08003

    2008-09-27-03.11.57.085610+060 I16199C329 LEVEL: Error (OS)
    PID : 757976 TID : 772
    FUNCTION: DB2 Common, OSSe, ossGetDiskInfo, probe:90
    MESSAGE : ECF=0x9000001A File doesn't exist
    CALLED : OS, -, statvfs OSERR: ENOENT (2)
    ARG #1 : String, 0 bytes

    ARG #2 : Uint32, 4 bytes
    1

    Whether the above error will make the backup to run for a long time.
    As db size is just 11Gb,which took around 6-7hrs appros to complete, check for the diag.log,only able to see above errors

    Could anyone of us suggest in this.

    Regards
    Meena.s

    Hello Meena,

    I know only about the following messages...

    2008-09-27-02.56.56.774196+060 I15159C385 LEVEL: Error
    PID : 757976 TID : 1255 PROC : db2hmon 0

    These messages are harmless and safe to ignore. If you don't want this message to occur.. please make sure your health monitor and automatic statistics collection parameters are turned off.

    The first is, how do I make backups run faster. When you perform a backup operation, DB2 will automatically choose an optimal value for the number of buffers, the buffer size and the parallelism settings.

    so tune the following parameters...

    * WITH num-buffers BUFFERS
    * PARALLELISM n
    * BUFFER buffer-size

    Thanks for your reply. Will check the parameters on the same.
