Unanswered: Migrating from Access to SQL Server?
Hello To All On This Forum:
I am new to this forum. I decided to join because I wish to migrate my MS Access web applications to MS SQL Server. I am very skilled in the Access environment including writing complex query statements. However, I am completely ignorant to MS SQL Server. I have absolutely NO IDEA how to get started. I am totally confused. I have a simple question I would so much appreciate someone answering.
Question: Access is a stand-alone application that can be opened and worked on then transferred to the web site via FTP. I only use Access for tables. I do not use any other part of Access like the query features. I write all my queries in ASP. Does MS SQL Server run the same way? Do I have to buy a version of MS SQL Server? Or does my hosting provider have an interface that allows me to build an SQL Server database within H-Sphere?
Thank you for your help

Download SQL Server Express 2008 for free and start reading books online. As to what your hosting provider has available, you are going to have to ask them.If one brings so much courage to this world the world has to kill them or break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry. Earnest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms.
