    need help

greetings to all ..coming from the sunny(sometimes) caribbean. i am an undergrad studying CIS...i find the topic of databases really interesting..but sad to say..i have only had some exposure to using MS access . i know there are many other tools out there and i really want to get my hands dirty with this stuff..ok..now to the problem at hand..i have a task of finding out different database packages that can be used to set up an online business directory..i did a lil research and i came up with the following: MySQL, Microsoft SQL server and Oracle..i just want someone to tell me whether i am heading in the right direction...your assistance would be greatly appreciated..
    thanks in advance

yes, you are headed in the right direction

the "top 5" in my opinion include the 3 you mentioned plus PostgreSQL and DB2
