    Unanswered: Unable to migrate databases

    Hi all,

I ran the migrate option in the wizard and installed V9 on my windows server 2003 box. All db2 instances were migrated but when i attempt to migrate each database i get the following error message:

    F:\Program Files\SQLLIB\BIN>db2 migrate db exchange
SQL1039C An I/O error occurred while accessing the database directory.
    SQLSTATE=58031

I flagged this issue to IBM support and they said that there was no license for DB2 V9.1. When i attempt to do a db2start it indicates that the license was not valid. When i execute:

    db2licm -l

    F:\Program Files\SQLLIB\BIN>db2licm -l
Product name: "DB2 Enterprise Server Edition"
    License type: "License not registered"
    Expiry date: "License not registered"
    Product identifier: "db2ese"
    Version information: "9.1"
    Annotation: "-1;(_b)"

When i try to add the license:

    db2licm -a <filename>

    LIC1402I License added successfully.

LIC1426I This product is now licensed for use as specified in the License Agree
ment and License Information documents pertaining to the licensed copy of this p
roduct. USE OF THE PRODUCT CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS OF THE IBM LICEN
SE AGREEMENT AND LICENSE INFORMATION DOCUMENTS, LOCATED IN THE FOLLOWING DIRECTO
    RY: "F:\PROGRA~1\SQLLIB\license\en"

But when i list the license it still indicates that it's not registered. Any suggestions? Thank you

Is the license you are adding actually a valid permanent license, or a trial license that has expired? Also, make sure it is a valid 9.1 license, not V8 and not V9.5.

Most companies have an IBM Passport Advantage account where they can download software (and licenses) that your company is entitled to (has paid for). Probably someone in your company has access to this account.

If you can't find the license as a separate file, then it will be included in the DB2 ESE downlaod image.

If you don't have a Passport Advantage account, then the license will be in the orginal CD media that you received from IBM.

DB2 license files for V8, V9, and V9.5 are not interchangable.

    Is the database catalogued?

    db2 list db directory

You can recatalog the database if it is not catalogued, but you must know the path on which the database is intalled. Check the Command Reference manual for the "catalogue database" command.

"It does not work" is not a valid problem statement.

I know it will update the default instance, but not sure about the others.
