Unanswered: Column type for base64 data

    Hello,
What would be the best column type to use to store base64 data? I'm not always going to be sure of the size.

    Thanks,
    tom

What version of SQL Server are you using? Do you want to store the actual data, or the Base-64 formatted character representation of the data? Will the underlying data always repect byte boundaries or will it be strict Base-64 encoding?

I'm using MSSQL 2005 and the data will be strict Base-64 encoding.

    Thanks,

As I won't do your homework for you, I'll give you two clues. That definition gets you to exactly one SQL Data Type that completely meets those criteria.
