    If what you are trying to do is embed notepad into your html, forget it, it can't be done.

    If you want PHP to call notepad, check out PHP's exec() function. I don't understand why you would want to call notepad because you won't be able to save anything back into PHP or even a database after notepad is opened. What are you trying to do?

    if you are thinking of learnign PHP then consider getting one of the free editors such as Chamisoft's HTML Kit. with the PHPO extenstions it will help you generate PHP code
    I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton

    If you wanted to run notepad you could use the following PHP code.

    PHP Code:
    <?php exec("C:\pathto\notepad.exe"); ?>
    Healdem has also given you great advice. Also, you may want to check out php's site http://php.net. Excellent resource.
