Unanswered: Oracle 9i installation on Vista Home Basic

Can we install oracle 9i on Vista Home Basic?

    Because,

Initially it gives a error that version is not compatible. But allow to install.
Ran without out errors. But doesn't allow to install "common tools" (i.e. Net Config. Assit etc) Reason is that not allow to run jrew.exe, apache.exe
When try to log from SQLPlus pops up several errors.

    What could be the reason.

    Apparently not compatible.
AFAIK, 9i was desupported by Oracle before Vista was ever released.

Oracle V11 is certified on Vista Business.

Why install Oracle 9 when you can freely download Oracle 10 or 11 as long as it is for training or non-production use. Or for that matter, you can install 10g XE for free and use it for anything.

AFAIK #2, no MS Windows Home edition was ever certified with Oracle. For more information, consult the Oracle's Certification Matrices.

    Hi Bill

In your view what do you suggest for personal use. I mean the oracle version.

    Cheers.
