Angry windows explorer needs to close

    Hi to you all,
I am new to the site so be patient.

I am encountering a problem, I am constantly getting the message

WINDOWS EXPLORER HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO SHUT DOWN.
I have done everything possible to resolve this but to no avail.
I have run anti-virus, anti-spyware cleaned my registry and deleted files from my temp file and it is still popping up.
This only started to happen after a microsoft windows update. The problem appears to be in my temporary files. this is what keeps showing up on the error report

    help would be appreciated
    eric

I fail to see how that is related to using Microsoft SQL Server.
(SQL Server is something different than Windows Server!)

    Hi Shammat,
I do appreciate what you are saying. I had this problem once before and I was able to resolve it. I am not saying that it is Microsoft or anything to do with SQL, I have no clue to why this has occurred. I was thinking of doing a recovery going back several weeks but I do not think that this will work.

It's not sarcasm, just polite advice to find a more appropriate forum for your issue. Try:

    http://search.microsoft.com/results....S+TO+SHUT+DOWN

It will yield a whole lot more info than what us lowly DBAs can offer (1,140 hits). And attitude will get you no help whatsoever so be kind. We DBAs are a sensitive lot! Good luck!

    Hi tosscrosby
    Hi
I have not replied to your answer as I have been away for the holidays.
I hope you do not think of me as being rude, I just wanted to try and find an answer to the problem I had. It just seemed that it was a bit abrubt.
As it is I was able to resolve the problem with a program called threatfire, or i hope so, I do not have the problem any more.
Thanks for all your help and advice
    eric

Eric, it sounds like you have a virus. What version of windows are you running? Does the pop up message say anything about "NT Authority"?

    Hi Frunkie,
Yes it was a virus/adaware which had a high risk value. I use avira anti virus premium paid version, comodo fire wall, and superantispyware. How it got onto my computer I do not know as I am most careful.
The only thing I can think of is a junk mail I was trying to delete and I accidentally clicked on it. I generally use a sandboxie program, but on this occasion no. One has to be most careful, I lost my computer several years ago with a crappy anti virus.
Hopefully I have got rid of it now as I do not have the problem at the moment.

What an idiot. I'm putting him on a temporary ban, at least.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.
