    ok so assuming apache is running as a service or daemon
    check its running by typing
    [code]http://localhost[code].. you shoudl see some response fromt he server... usually 'it works'

    find where apache is looking for pages to serve.. usually its
    path/to/apache/htdocs

    put your script files in there (htdocs, assuming its htdocs)
    then type
    [code]http://localhost/scriptname.php[code]..
    if you get no response try a test php script, one that calls the inbuilt function phpinfo()

    eg
    PHP Code:
    <?php
    phpinfo
    ();
    ?>
    getting apache, php and MySQL can be a bit intimidating for a learner, XAMPP has made life so much easier
    I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
