Unanswered: Null Vs. Missing Number Fields

I have a column of type number, and I need to represent missing fields differently from Null values, so that the user can come back and fill in the blanks. What would be the best way to approach this?

Null is Null. With numeric data types you have these options:

    A positive value.
    A negative value.
    Zero.
    Null.

    There is no more.

Up to you what you do with them.
