    Unanswered: take ownership

    Hi all I am trying to take ownership of the sql databases and its not working the error message I am getting is

    the proposed new database ownder VIEJAS\destevenson is mapped as user VIEJAS\destevenson in this database. Now I thought I changed that but obviouslsy not. Help??

    Run sp_helpuser in the database. You will likely see this user somewhere in that output.

    Yup thats the case, here is what I am seeing

    username GroupName LoginName DefDbName

    VIEJAS\destevenson db_owner VIEJAS\destevenson master dbo 10

    You can drop the user from the database, then change the ownership. If you are changing ownership, I am assuming you are a sysadmin on the box.
