    Unanswered: alter session

    Hi Guys,

Actually i need some advice here, i was debugging one procedure.
But there was an error i was hitting where exception was raised because no data found.

When i queried the table, there was no data.

After trying many different options, i then altered session to american, then the procedure worked fine. And when i queried table after altering session, i could see data.

alter session set nls_language = 'AMERICAN'

Im just trying to understand, when do we actually have to alter session. and how do we know what session to alter to?

What was the statement that raised the NO DATA FOUND exception like? I suppose it contained the WHERE clause - which one? What data did you search for? Any "special" characters involved? What was the original NLS_LANGUAGE setting?
