Unanswered: I need help with a couple of issues

    Hey Guys,

I need your help with a database. Im working with Access 2000.

Ive created 4 tables and 2 forms. I have a couple of problems and a few things i want to add which i hope someone can help me with.

I have a Order form which a user inputs Order information.

My first Problem is that I have a cmd button that opens the "materials" form I used the wizard so it would open the linked record, however it did not open the form at all. So i created another cmd button without the linked field option just so that it would open the form.

My second problem is when i open the Materials form, i want the OrderID that is the foreign key to auto populate the related txtbox. how would i accomplish this?

The last thing is, I want to open the materials form and everytime i add some materials to the order i want it to appear in the bottom of the screen in some kind of list. is this possible to do?

I hope somone can take a look at this for me, i have attached the file.

Thanking anyone that can enlighten me.

Problem 1. Dunno, I never use the wizards, but you can specify criteria when opening a form via the OpenArgs argument or by modifying the forms SQL after opening it... or applying a filter.

when i open the Materials form, i want the OrderID
I'm confused. The materials form shouldn't have an OrderID. Unless your materials are never used in more than one order, which is highly unlikely. What kind of materials are you working with?

I want to open the materials form and everytime i add some materials to the order
I'm confused again. Are you in a form that is designed to manage materials or manage orders?

    ?
Well the materials table contains a "OrderID" field so that it can be stored as a foreign key. Its the only way i can see of linking the records. That why i wanted the textbox to auto populate.

I have 2 tables, Materials and tblMaterials which is a catalogue of the materials.

The Materials I am working with are things like "screws" "pins" etc.

    so for example.

Im looking at OrderID 2 in teh Orders form. I press the cmd button and it opens a materials form so that any materials i add are linked to a OrderID 2.

The materials form manages the materials related to that partiular order.

I hope i have typed this out correctly.
