    Question Unanswered: email notifications

    hi,
    I am using db2 v9.5 ESE on windowsXP.
    Is there ain db2 way to enable email notifications on Microsoft outlook???
    If yes, how we do that and if it is not possible then what is the work around if implementing SMTP is not possible. dont want any third party solution.

    check admin cfg. there is a tag for smtp server and define contact persons..

    that is what my question is, i don't want to use SMTP. I want this to achieve on microsoft outlook.

    Then you can write Batch Jobs (on Windows) or Shell/Awk Script (for Unix/Linux) to achieve the same without using any other 3rd Party tool. e.g. use the MAIL feature for Unix.

    Outlook is a client; to send notifications you need a server, which in your case will be MS Exchange, which implements SMTP among other things.

    what difference will it make if outlook sends your mail or DB2?? the only thing i see is you want control over your formatting...
