What operating system, architecture, and where in the install process do you get this?

    Unable to install SQL 2005

It Passes the System Configuratio Check

    I enter Registration Information
Select SQL Server Database Services & Workstation components.
    Default instance
Service Acct - Use the built-in System account - Local Services - check SQL Server
    Mixed Mode - enter password
Collation Settings - SQL collation used for compatibility
Error & Usage - no boxes check
    Ready to Install - Install
Unexpected error and will end and that gives me the info above.

When I do uninstall, the original installation included SP3.
Shouldn't msxml 6 sp 2(KB954459) uninstall? It will not install

Is this off of a DVD or did you download it? Also, is this a fresh OS install or have you been using it for a while?
I would also check in the application event log and see if there's anything in there. It's possible you have a corrupt installer, but it's hard to tell from the error message. Please post the entire error message, if you can.
