    Unanswered: Few questions about db2relocatedb

    Hi,

I need to move one container to another location and I want to use db2relocatedb. Have few questions:

What user should run command - db2 instance owner or root ?

DB2 instance should be stopped before running command ?

This is output from db snapshot:
    Code:
                  Database Snapshot

    Database name = BWP
    Database path = /db2/BWP/db2bwp/NODE0000/SQL00001/
Is /db2/BWP/db2bwp/NODE0000/SQL00001 value right for DB_PATH parameter ?

    1) yes, run as instance owner
    2) Yes stop the instance first - also read the manual closely to see what must be done before running db2relocatedb
    3) I am not sure but I think it is /db2/BWP Is db2bwp your instance owner?

As Andy suggests, make sure you read the manual. This command is totally outside DB2 engine ... AFAIK, it updates some config files and does not do anything with the engine itself ...

If you are moving a container path, in theory, you can do with the database deactivated .. But, to be on the safer side, I would stop the instance.

I have used db2relocatedb successfully when the database was active. Of course, that was on dev and wouldn't do the same thing on prod.

I think the database path will just be /db2/BWP
test it in a non-prod env.

Then I am fairly certain that I got the path correct. Things I strongly recommend on using db2relocatedb:

    1) Read the manual thoroughly. Make sure you understand it inside and out.
    2) Test what you want to do before trying it live.
