    Unanswered: MYSQL Newbie

    Just wondering how would one find a list of the names of all tables accessible to them?

    You must have access to view some datas.

    Showing database: SHOW DATABASES

    Showing tables: SHOW TABLES -> If you have already use a database
    SHOW TABLES FROM DatabaseName

    Showing Fields: SHOW FIELDS FROM DatabaseName.TableName

    For MySQL 5.0+ you could also query the INFORMATION_SCHEMA database. The details are available in the MySQL manual:
