    Cool Unanswered: Oracle sys and sysman passwords

    Please reply private:

    I just took over a project and there are now poweruser passwords available. The way I see it is I only have a few options. One is to recreate the sys or sysman password and hope I have access to changed the password. Two is to replicate the database in someway. And three, get the some c4 and work with the san guy.

    log onto the DB server system as OS user "oracle" or which ever user owns the Oracle s/w directory tree.
    invoke sqlplus
    when prompted for username enter
    / as sysdba
    SQL> ALTER USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY NEWPASSWORD;
