Unanswered: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name

I am doing a big conversion on the company application. This application was done under VB6 SP6 front end and MSSQL 2000 for back end. And now, the company wants to move in to the ORACLE environment. So, I converted all the SQL statement used in the application and also the connection string.

Here's my problem, when I run the application to the VB environment, it works smoothly. But when I compiled the application and run the exe file, it gives me error (ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name).

I checked the components/drivers used by the application as well as the TNSName.ORA. And Its fine but still problem occurs after the compilation.

What do you think is the problem? Do I missed something?

Oh, I forgot to put that I am running the compiled vb apps on my development machine. Is there any problem on that? If so, whats the reason behind that? Another scenario, If the compiled vb apps not works on the user machine. What is the possible root cause for this exe to fail?

I read so many forum thread, and tried everything. Unfortunately, no luck seen.

Thanks for the reply and hope you can give me answer to my problem.

You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
