Unanswered: MS SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager - Can't create a local database

An SQL Server (Developer edition) is installed in one pc (i'm accessing the pc tru remote connection). I am trying to create/register a local server but can't create one.

I right clicked the "SQL Server Group" and then clicked the "New SQL Server Registration". On the wizard, I add the computer name (which was automatically on the available server textbox). I connect using Windows authentication. But i'm getting this error "SQL server does not exist or access denied". I also tried using the IP address of the PC as the server name, but still same error.

I also tried connecting tru SQL Server Aunthentication. It's asking for a username & password. I type in 'sa' as the username & no password entered. I encountered the same error.

What seems to be the problem? Pls. help.
