    Unanswered: Objects and devices

    Hi,

Is there any way to know which objects (tables, indexes ..) are located on a device let's say device01 ?

    Thanks,

    Pierre

    hi,
wat r u going to gain in knowing that, r u having performance issues. if u create a segment on a device, and then re-create the clustered index of that table in that segment, then u will know where it is, otherwise there is no way of knowing which object is in wat segment.

This will show the the tables/indexes in a specific segment
    Code:
    select
     o.name
    ,u.name
    ,i.name
    ,i.indid
    ,o.sysstat2
    ,o.type
    from
     sysindexes i
    ,syssegments s
    ,sysobjects o
    ,sysusers u
    where o.id = i.id
      and u.uid = o.uid
      and s.name = 'default'
      and s.segment = i.segment
      and i.indid != 255
    order by 1,2

    thanks a lot pdreyer.
Actually the purpose is to check a database where a device failed (just system bug) but I don't think it was used.
I justed wanted to make sure.
