    Unanswered: the partitioning

hi everyone and thanks for all the great work that u do here!!
i have to prepare a presentation about the partitioning database in oracle!!!
my question is : we all know that a databse is composed phisically with a number of files (control files, log files....) when we do a partitioning on table we create a 2 or more partitioned tables!!it's clear that!!but what's really going on in database files ?is when we created a new partition is a new files are created or what?
    thanks!!

It's interesting that you are giving a presentation on table partitioning.
Data files belong to tablespaces. Tables and partitions are created in tablespaces. The tablespace must exist for the table/partition to be created there. Therefore, no new files are created when partitioning a table.

You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
