    SQL support Hierarchical Query . You can try those

    Hierarchical Query Pseudocolumns :
    1. CONNECT_BY_ISCYCLE
    2.CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF
    3.LEVEL

    report for heirarchical tree

    Dear all,

    thanks for reply ,

    this is stuff to explain my quest.

    table :

    create table acct
    (acct_id varchar2(20) primary key,
    parent varchar2(20) ,
    acct_name varchar2(40),
    balance number);

    data as :

    insert into acct values ('1',null,'King',0);
    insert into acct values ('11',1,'AAAA1',0);
    insert into acct values ('111',11,'AAAA2',0);
    insert into acct values ('1111',111,'AAAA3',100);

    insert into acct values ('12',1,'BBBB1',0);
    insert into acct values ('121',12,'AAAA2',200);

    nsert into acct values ('13',1,'BBBB1',300);

    insert into acct values ('14',1,'CCCCC1',0);
    insert into acct values ('141',14,'CCCCC2',0);
    insert into acct values ('1411',141,'CCCCC3',400);

    the tree data entry form form works well , what is needed is a
    report to list accounts with balances accumlated to upper parents.

    thanks
