    Exclamation Unanswered: 2 Backup Servers

    hey,

Currently we have two ASE test environments on one Unix Box and one Backup server.

Every morning we load our production databases into these two ASE servers.

Both ASE servers have the same databases the only difference one is pre batch and the other is post batch.

What we would like to do is add an extra backup server so that each ASE server would have its own backup server and hopefully improve performance of reloading theses development. Cause currently we could have 4 databases or more loading at the same time. Which know is not good, it just that are window to reload theses databases has grown smaller.

So basic the question is can we have two backup servers running on one Unix box?

Yes You can have multiple ASE servers each with their own backup server running on the same host.

    You can test it out.

    - 1 backup server running 2 loads.
    - 2 backup servers running 2 separate loads.

Second option is better, but how much time you save depends on DB size & other h/w configuration.
