Unanswered: Importing file as TEXT or NUMBER

I have imported a new Text file into Table in Access and when tried to run some queries written for a previous Table I ran into some problems. How do you import a Text file and have Access look at ever column as a Number field not Text.

Open the Table in design view and change the type of the concerned column(s) to a numeric type. This is only possible if all values in this (those) column(s) is (are) numerical values.

When you import the file, configure an "import specification" to nominate that the fields are numeric. Or import the data into an existing empty table that has numeric fields.

or Have a pre-established table with only fields designated as numeric type. Import your file and then append the data to this pre-established table (where you'll see errors for the non-numeric data.) Run a delete query on the pre-established table prior to doing this if you only want the current data in the table.
