Separate Tables for raw and finished products?

I am developing a manufacturing inventory db. I am having trouble on deciding if raw materials should be in the same table as finished products. Anyone have any basic advice on this? Thanks.

If you take inventory on both, then I'd be inclined to say yes.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

yes inventory is taken on both at the same time, the issue is since raw materials are consumed to create a finished product, should separate tables be used to hold each. When I think about it it seems that, conceptually the db would be tracking material in more than one place.

Do the same attributes apply to both raw and manufactured? If so, then those attributes should go in one table. If there are attributes unique to one or other type then put those in separate tables.
