    Unanswered: Restricting remote access to Database Control - 10gR2

    Hi Everyone,

    I'm running Oracle Server 10g R2 on Windows 2003.

    Can I restrict access to Database Control so that only the admin user logged onto the physical server can access Database Control?

    I.e. So that non-admin users and users on remote connections to server cannot access Database Control.

    Any ideas much apprecited!

    Chris.

    This is an OS problem not an Oracle problem.
    At the OS level disable all non-admin accounts or change the passwords to them.
    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
    The average person thinks he's above average!
    For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

    Use sqlnet.ora

    If you want your listener to accept requests from only specific machines, you need to do the following. (assuming the IP address you want to allow connection to is 10.10.1.25)

    1. Open sqlnet.ora with a text editor
    2. Add following lines
    Code:
    tcp.validnode_checking = yes
    tcp.invited_nodes = (10.10.1.25)
    3. restart listener

    This will allow listener to only accept connection request from 10.10.1.25 and will not allow connections coming from other IP addresses.

    You can also add multiple IP address to allow connection. For example if you want 10.10.30.201 to connect to your DB as well, you have to set
    Code:
    tcp.invited_nodes = (10.10.1.25, 10.10.30.201)
    Hope it helps.

    Regards,
    Hammad
