    Unanswered: interpreting dbcc log(database_name, 2)

    Hi all,

Does anyone know what the columns return by the query dbcc log(database_name, 2) represent, in particular the Number of Locks or Lock Information?

    Thanks.

I am running the query on SQL Server 2005, I think it can also be run on 2000, it is an undocumented procedure, hence I couldn't find it on BOL either, so I have no idea at what the resultant columns represent and how to interpret the query, does anyone know how to interpret the result??

If the procedure is undocumented, why are you using it?

What information are you hoping to obtain - chances are there are other methods of getting you the same thing that are supported

    sys.locks perhaps?

I was thinking of querying the transaction log for which transactions where causing deadlock/blocking instead of using SQL Profiler.
