    Unanswered: Restore without rolling forward

    DB2 v9.1
    ESE

I've done a offline backup and now want to restore the datbase, without rolling forward the logs.

    This is what I'm doing:
db2 restore db <database> from . taken at 20090330133907 replace existing without rolling forward

    Message received:
SQL2537N Roll-forward is required following the Restore.

Why would I need to do a rollforward with a offline backup? Or is there another way to do this?

    Thank you.

It just means that the backup taken at 20090330133907 was not an offline backup. You can verify that by issuing an appropriate LIST HISTORY command or running db2ckbkp.

    Try,

    db2 "rollforward db <database> complete"

Can't tell you why, but even an offline backup of a database configured for recovery logging must be rolled forward. If the database had circular logging it wouldn't require it.

db2 rollforward db <database> to end of backup and complete

    will get the job done.
