Unanswered: Connect to remote database returns SQL30061N

    Hi

    Setup is as follows :
    Client Win/XP with CONPE v.9.5.100
Database server W2K3 MSCS with WSE v.9.1.200.

My problem is that i have created a database in an instance named DA2300 and when i try to make a connection, I get the following error message :

SQL30061N The database alias or database name HJDBW999 was not found at the remote node.

At the client i have made the following :
Catalog tcpip node HJDBW999 remote <name> server 50000 remote_instance DA2300 ostype WIN (have tried with and without param remote_instance)
Catalog db HJDBW999 at node HJDBW999 authentication SERVER
Catalog system odbc data source HJDBW999

At the server i have made the following :
Update dbm cfg using SVCENAME db2c_DB2
    Db2set -g DB2INSTDEF=DA2300
    Db2stop
    Db2start

If i create a database in the default instance (DB2) on the server, i can make a connection to that database.

Can anyone tell me what i'm missing/doing wrong.

    Regards,

    Henrik

in server : list db directory to see the name
    db2c_DB2 should be in etc/services being 50000
db2set -all should also display db2comm=tcpip

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have checked the things you mention, and all were set as you described.

    Hi

Problem solved, don't understand it, have tried this before without success, did a failover on the cluster, then i did a db2stop and db2start on the instance, and suddenly it all worked.

when you have HACMP or HADR environment or both , You can't just hard code one server name at client catalogging.
