    Smile Unanswered: Database Run Catalogue

    Hi,

I am new to databases and have Access on my computer.

I want to create a database which can connect to a catalogue that can be printed for the sales team. The current database is in exel and the catalogue in powerpoint (not ideal.) I want to be able to store bar codes, pictures, prices, text etc. in the database so when the database is changed so is the catalogue automaticly.

Does anyone know of any programs that do this?

I'm sure there's something out there as it is a common demand.

    Thank You

I'm not aware of anything off the shelf, but its relatively trivial to do in Access. however whether that's trivial to someone who hasn't designed db's before is another question......

storing data in an Excel spreadsheet in my books is not a good solution.

persoanlly I'd store the data in a database anbd output in any suitable format... that could be a PDF, it could be an report it could be powerpoint db. its doesn't matter, it could be all 3 if thats what the consumers of the data wanted.
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton

So is this something that could be done in Access and exported as powerpoint db or PDF. If so how do I learn how to do this or how much will it cost to get someone else to set it up? Also can you customise the design of the output add a template and some graphics?

Yes, although I have never outputted to powerpoint, I certainly have in PDF.

Secondary education, 1on1 training, online education, books, or trial and much error and much retrial.

how much will it cost to get someone else to set it up?
Ask for estimates! Prices will vary between suppliers and depend on exactly what you want to do, without generalising.

Also can you customise the design of the output add a template and some graphics?
