to become a DBA, you pretty much need to become intimately familiar with all the quirks and nuances of your chosen database system

if that database system happens to be oracle, then you would need to start by creating some oracle database tables, updating them, managing them, archiving them, etc.

you should also take some specific oracle courses and look into what it would take to get certified

(disclaimer: i am not a DBA, and i don't know oracle very well)

    step 1. lose your mind.
    step 2. never sleep.

    Yes, you have it backwards:

    step 1. lose your sleep.
    step 2. never mind.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

it's a great bad idéa to never sleep
there is an arabic proverb that says something like...
"good mind is in the good health"
(wish that i translated it correctly^^)
i've last long time during nights ...trying to practice things more and more often, spending long hours without sleeping enough was a great mistake
now, i'm suffering from troubles concerned the blood pressure
and all that i hope, is only to sleep once more, and to feel this good health that i did have...sniff

    advice: never lose sleep ...please.
and never take coffe or things like that.

health is something really precious, take care of it!

    warmest greetings

and this would help how - "integrate different databases into single database"? In my opinion. if the applications are disparate, they should be separate. Same server, maybe, but there is no sense forcing two (or more) distinctly different applications into one database.

I mean to say, if you have more than one modules of one application, then you should integrate the database of that modules into one.
    any doubt?
