    Unanswered: Setting spool file to landscape in wordpad

    Hi:

    I'm trying to format a spool file report to landscape to make things easier for the report viewers to read, however I am unable to find any helpful information on how to go about that. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    Cool Trims on

    Try this:
    Code:
    -- Etc . . .
    set termout off
    set feedback off
    set verify off
    set echo off
    set line 1000
    set pages 55
    set trims on

    column Today NEW_VALUE xTODAY noprint format a1 trunc

    select TO_CHAR(SysDATE, 'fmMonth ddth, yyyy HH:MI:SS AM') Today from dual;

    spool c:\marc\output\pre_wave_report_combined.lis
    -- Etc . . .
    Then in Wordpad: File > Page Setup and click on Landscape.

    I was hoping to have landscape automatically set up in wordpad as the spooled file gets created. I tried set trims on without much change. I guess they'll just have to deal with changing it to landscape before printing. Thanks for taking a shot at it though.

    Good Luck because SQL*Plus does not know the difference between portrait & landscape.
    Closest you can get
    SQL> SET LINES 131
    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.

    I think what I'll have to do is create a js file and add that to the sql statement to have it autimate the process for them just by key strokes...or something along those lines.

    Talking Html anyone?

    Or try generating the report in HTML and have them open it with IE.
    Code:
    -- Etc . . .
    set term off feed off verify off echo off line 1000 pages 55 trims on

    column Today NEW_VALUE xTODAY noprint format a1 trunc

    select TO_CHAR(SysDATE, 'fmMonth ddth, yyyy HH:MI:SS AM') Today from dual;

    SET MARKUP HTML ON SPOOL ON HEAD "<TITLE>SQL*Plus Report</title> -
    <STYLE TYPE='TEXT/CSS'><!--BODY {background: ffffc6} --></STYLE>"
    spool c:\marc\output\pre_wave_report_combined.html
    -- Etc . . .
